Scientific Conference (Readings) in Memory of
Vladimir Levinson-Lessing (1893 - 1972)
Annual readings in memory of the outstanding scientist Vladimir Franzevich
Levinson-Lessing, who worked in the Hermitage for half a century (1893
- 1972), were held in the Hermitage Theatre on October 25 and 26, 2000.
Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky addressed the
participants of the conference with an opening speech. Among the participants
of the conference were the experts of the State Hermitage - research workers
of the Department of the History of West-European Art, the Department
of the Art and Culture of Antiquity, the Oriental Department, the Menshikov
Palace, the Scientific Educational Department and the scientists from
the Museum Country-Seat Arkhangelskoye and the Saratov Art Museum named
after Alexander Radishchev. The reports of the participants of the Readings
touched upon different problems of the history of world art.
